A baker made “n” number of chocolate cakes on Monday and sold everything. On Tuesday he made triple the number of cakes that he made on Monday and sold 8 of them. After selling the 8 cakes he has 4 cakes remaining.

Form an equation for the above, to find “n”, the number of cakes he made on Monday.

Answer:

4 cakes

Explanation:

-The cakes made on the two days can be expressed as:

Monday=n\\\\Tuesday=3n

-The baker has 4 cakes remaining after selling 8 on Tuesday:

3n-8=4\\\\3n=8+4\\\\3n=12\\\\n=4

Hence, the number of cakes made on monday is 4 cakes.
