It has rained on Court street and created extremely large puddles. To avoid messing up your shoes, you must walk 34 meters south and 41 meters east. to the nearest meter, how many meters would be saved if it were possible to walk through the puddle?

Answer:

21.74 m

Explanation:

First, get how many meters that one actually walks.

This will be the sum of distance that one walks towards South and East

Distance=34m+41m=75 m

To get the distance if you walk through the puddle, it implies using the hypotenuse

Hypotenuse will be given by

H²=34²+41²=2837

H=√2837=53.26m

Therefore, the shortest distance is 53.26 m

Distance saved will be 75-53.26m=21.74 m
