Answer:

x = 5.73 and x = 2. 27

Explanation:

Quadratic formula

x = -b ±
\frac{\sqrt{b^(2) - 4ac } }{2a}

x^2-4x+1=0

from the equation;

a = 1

b = -4

c = 1

slot in the values in x = -b ±
\frac{\sqrt{b^(2) - 4ac } }{2a}

x = - (-4) ±
\frac{\sqrt{-4^(2) - 4*1*1 } }{2*1}

x = 4 ±
(√(16 - 4 ) )/(2)

x = 4 ±
(√(12 ) )/(2)

x = 4 ±
(√(12 ) )/(2)

x = 4 ± 1.73

x = 4 + 1.73 = 5.73

and

x = 4 - 1.73 = 2. 27
