(a) Area of each missing face is A = 18 cm^2.

(b) Length of each missing edge is 6cm.

In the given problem we have,

Surface area of given prism is 72cm^2,

Now,

a) The areas of the opposing faces in a rectangular prism are equal.

Area A is the given missing face area.

Area of other face are 6cm^2, 12cm^2, 6cm^2,12cm^2

Considering that the rectangular prism's total surface area is the sum of its six equal faces

72 cm^2 = 6cm^2 + 12cm^2 + 6cm^2 +12cm^2 + A + A

72 cm^2 = 36 +2A

A= 18cm^2

(b) Now, each missing edge's length

Given what we know, the rectangle's area is length × width

18cm^2 = length × 3 cm

length = 18/3 =6cm

(a) Area of each missing face is A = 18 cm^2.

(b) Length of each missing edge is 6cm.
