northern hemisphere at this time?

As shown here, the northern hemisphere receives less sunlight per unit area when it is tilted away from the sun and experiences the cold of winter. At the same time, the southern hemisphere is receiving more sunlight per unit area because it is tilted towards the sun and experiences the heat of summer.

Answer:

Earth spins on an angle, so the Northern hemisphere is towards the sun in the summer, making it warmer and having the temperature increase, so the opposite of that is that in the winter, the Northern Hemisphere tilts away from the sun, making the temperatures decrease.

Hope this helps!
