Remember what the equation is:
MOLARITY = MOLES SOLUTE/LITERS OF SOLUTION
Solute = what you dissolve (in our example, glucose)
LET
Solvent = what does the dissolving (in our example, water)
ments
Solution = the mixture of the two (sugar water!)
Let's start with an easy example. Suppose you weighed out 25 g of glucose
(CH20)
1. How many moles of glucose did you weigh out?
2. If you added enough water to make 1 liter of solution, what would be the
molarity of the solution you made?
3. Suppose instead you took 25 g of glucose and only added enough water to
make 500 mL of solution. What would be the molarity of that solution?
4. Lastly, what if you took 25 g of glucose and added enough water to make 2
liters of solution. What would the molarity be?
