Given

a : b = 5 : 3

or

a = 5 and b = 3

Now

= 5a - 3b

5a + 3b

= 5 * 5 - 3 * 3

5 * 5 + 3 * 3

= 25 - 9

25 +9

= 16/ 34

Dividing both numerator and denominator by 2 we get

= 8/17
