Area: 9

Explanation:

Use the distance formula to find the length of each side of the polygon, then you add all of the sides together. the distance formula is square root (x2-x1)^2+(y2-y2)^2 (you can just look up distance formula if you want a visual). The length between (1,1) and (4,1) is 3, the length between (4,4) and (4,1) is also 3, the length between (1,4) and (4,4) is also 3, and the length between (1,4) and (1,1) is also 3. Add up all those lengths to get the perimeter. To find the area, its just length times width. So instead of adding all the sides like perimeter, you just do 3 times 3
