A shopper visits a clothing store during a 25% off sale. While there, the shopper finds a shirt that was originally priced 26$.Next week, the shirt will be reduced by an additional 30% off the sale price. The shopper claims this means that next week the shirt will be 55% off the original price.

Answer: No it’s not the same.

Explanation:

25% of 26 = $6.50

$26.00-$6.50 = $19.50

30% of 19.50 = $5.85

19.50-$5.85 = $13.85

The customer would pay $13.85 when it’s 30% off the sale price

55% of 26= $14.30

$26-$14.30=$11.70

If it was 55% off the customer would pay $11.70

I hope this helps
