X=12
You do what’s in the parentheses first which is using the Distributive Property. We do this first because we need to get the X by itself. You Distribute (multiply) the number outside of the parentheses to both numbers in the parentheses. Then you combine like terms. Where you add all similar numbers together (variables+variables) (whole number+whole number)
then you end up with an x valued number and a regular number on opposite sides of the equal sign. So you divide the X value to the other number and your left with X=12!

Answer:

x =12

Explanation:

7x+2(x-11)=86

Distribute

7x +2x -22 = 86

Combine like terms

9x -22 =86

Add 22 to each side

9x-22+22= 86+22

9x = 108

Divide each side by 9

9x/9 =108/9

x =12
