Does anyone know how to solve Transformations of quadratic functions

Example:
Find g(x), where g(x) is the translation 5 units down of f(x)=x2.
Write your answer in the form a(x–h)2+k, where a, h, and k are integers.

Answer: g(x) = 1(x-5)2 + 0

Step-by-step explanation: You just had to substract x by 5 units (h).

a doesn’t have an effect on the shift, so it is 1.

k is the y-intercept, but that did not change, so it is 0.
