Answer:

Poliomyelitis is caused by a virus that spreads easily in human populations. Most people with polio infections show no symptoms of disease. However , infected persons without symptoms can still spread the virus and cause others to develop polio.

Step-by-step explanation:

Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by a virus which affects the nervous system thereby causing weakness of muscle and paralysis. The polio virus enters the body through the mouth and is transmitted via person-to-person through contact with contaminated stool, contaminated water or food and multiplies in the intestine. Polio is more common in infants and young children below the age of 5 and normally as a result of poor hygiene.

Most people with polio infections show no symptoms of disease. However , infected persons without symptoms can still spread the virus and cause others to develop polio. This symptoms take about 7 to 10 days before manifestation. The symptoms are fever, fatigue, headache, vomiting, stiffness of the neck and pain in the limbs and sometimes paralysis.
