1) factor this equation:

36*5=180

so what*what=180

and what+what=-36

-30*-6=180

and

-30-6=-36

substitute -30x and -6x in place of -36x

5x^2-30x-6x+36

split in two groups:

group a) 5x^2-30x

(gcf of 5x)

5x(x-6)

group b) -6x+36

-6(x-6)

(5x-6)(x-6)=0

5x-6=6/5 or 1.2

x-6=6
