Two complex bio molecules - NADH and FADH2 are oxidized by the four protein complexes to produce energy.

Both NADH and FADH2 transports the electron through the inner membrane space. In first complex, electron move from NADH to ETC and get oxidized to NAD . In the second complex, FADH2 is oxidized. In the third complex, no additional electrons enter the chain except from complexes I and II. At complex IV, electrons are transferred to a molecule of oxygen which then reduces to water.
