In some cases, patients will elect to have a "DNR" (Do Not Resuscitate) order in place, meaning that there should be no life-saving measures taken for the patient. Why is this important to know in a clinic setting as well as a hospital setting?

It’s extremely important to know because you should do that the patient wants and not going against it or tell them what they should do.

This can effect the quality of life if a person is hospitalized for a long period of time and destined to die soon. Let’s say the person was resuscitated... he may have to live with broken ribs or a condition that will stay with him till death. Hope this helps!
