Textiles are usually thought to be a "female art." Why do you think it is traditional in the Hopi tribe, that men weave the
traditional baby quilt for new births? Do you think of weaving and textiles as being a craft for females only? Why or why
not?

Answer:

I believe that the men make the traditional baby quilt because the females work extremely hard and when they are giving birth they obviously don't have the time or energy to make a quilt. I personally don't think that textiles are a craft for females only because if someone enjoys doing something or they're helping somebody else out, then it doesn't matter if they're a male or a female. Especially not in today's day and age. Men and Women today can do anything they want to do. It doesn't matter if it's considered a female activity or a male activity. People can do what they want and it's no one else's right to judge them based on the activities they want to participate in. As long as they're happy and they're not hurting themselves or anyone else in the process, people can do whatever they want. Oh and also as long as they're not breaking any laws.
