Explanation:

Random Variable is a variable whose value depends on outcomes of a random phenomena. There are two types of random variables :

  • Discrete Random Variable : Variable which takes only countable whole number values . Eg - No. of books (1,2,3.....)
  • Continuous Variable : Variable which takes non countable infinite values. Eg - Weight (10.1, 10.14, 10.2 , 10.6 ........)

Given : I grabbed two books randomly off shelf ; X = Random Variable values of 'number of books read'.

So, the number of books that could have already been read : could be- 0 books, or 1 book, or 2 books; out of total 2 books picked up.
