The Northwest Territory in the United States was an area that corresponds to the territory west of the Appalachian mountains north of the Ohio river. This included land west of Pennsylvania, northwest of the Ohio River and east of the Mississippi River below the Great Lakes. It encompassed areas of modern Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, and the northeastern part of Minnesota.
This area was unexplored and wild through much of its early history, and colonists who moved there often struggled to settle in the area. Some of the things that helped them and that I would take with me are: medicine, tools, certain crops, horses, weapons, books, clothes, items to trade, food supplies, dog.
I would take these items because they would be particularly useful for me to start a new life in this area. They would allow me to grow some food, build a house, and protect myself and my home. The books would allow me to relax while the dog would provide company. Items to trade would allow me to establish peaceful relationships with the Native Americans in the area.
