Those in the EQ camp say "A high IQ will get you through school, a high EQ will get you through life."

Answer:

A person’s intelligence quotient (IQ) is an indicator of the person’s general level of intelligence. This type of intelligence enables a person to learn new concepts and to develop technical and problem-solving skills. Thus, a mathematician or a scientist is likely to have a high IQ. In contrast, a person’s emotional quotient (EQ) is the extent to which someone can observe and comprehend the social environment and use social skills to assess one’s own emotions as well as the emotions of others.

Though a high IQ can help a person to achieve academic and monetary success, it does not necessarily guarantee a successful and happy life. For example, people with relatively low or moderate IQs might not excel in academics or technical skills. However, a high EQ might help such people to understand and interact better with family, friends, colleagues, and superiors.

EQ plays an important role in building and maintaining social relationships. Thus, people who have a low EQ tend to be more nervous and awkward in most social situations (such as parties, picnics, social events, team-based activities, etc.). Thus, a person with a low EQ might suffer from a lack of emotional understanding and maturity, which might make the person come across as aloof and indifferent to others. Such people often find it difficult to make friendly, casual conversation, empathize with others’ feelings, and react to another person’s emotional crisis. The emotional imbalance in such people results in anger, frustration, irritability, and strained relationships. Since people who have a low EQ tend to be inherently unhappy due to the lack of a healthy social life, they might even have problems focusing on work.

Considering all the social factors that come into play, people with a high EQ (but a relatively lower IQ) tend to be more content with life because they manage to achieve success in their social environment and relationships. For instance, a person with a high EQ might be able to gain insight as well as accept advice and support from peers, friends, and family during trying times. Such people are therefore better able to focus on their work due to a healthy emotional state of mind. This is not to say that IQ is not important, but people should ideally try to balance their IQ and EQ in order to be happy, successful, and content with their lives.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is believed that EQ is more important than IQ in order to survive and flourish in the game called life. A higher IQ can make you a good engineer but higher EQ will make you a leader of engineers. IQ is linked with the ability to manage thoughts, ideas, etc. whereas EQ is the ability to manage relationship with other people. This ability can make you get through under critical circumstances. Therefore, it can be said that EQ is more important than IQ.
