a. You have the function


f(x)=(x-2)^2(x-4)^2

to find the intervals you have to take into account the roots of f(x), in this case you have the roots


x_(1,2)=2\\x_(3,4)=4

- for x < 2, for example x=1:


f(1)=(1-2)^2(1-4)^2>0

f(x) decreases from infinity to zero

- for 2 < x < 4, for example x=3:
