So, we will use the following formula, where m is equal to the slope.

Now we will plug in the x and y values given above, (-5, 4) and (-10, 0).


m=(0-4)/(-10+5)\\ m=(-4)/(-5)\\ m=(4)/(5)

Note: In the denominator of the first line, the -5 was changed to a 5 because in the original equation, we are told to subtract. When you have two negatives they cancel each other out.
