This is because the Calvin cycle needs the ATP and NADPH produced by the light reactions. In this way, the Calvin cycle depends on the light reactions. But is the inverse true as well? Do the light reactions depend on the Calvin cycle?

Answer:

No, light dependent reaction does not depend on Calvin cycle.

Step-by-step explanation:

Calvin cycle occurs in the second phase of photosynthesis i. e. light independent reaction. In this process, carbondioxide fixation takes place in the leaves of the plant. Light dependent reaction occurs first in which ATP and NADPH are produced which are used in Calvin cycle of light independent reaction for the production of sugar molecule such as glucose. So light dependent reaction does not depend on Calvin cycle.
