Mr. Bean puts a coin and a 5-sided number cube in a cup, shakes, and then empties the cup onto a table. Mr. Bean will win a prize if the coin lands on a head or if he rolls a 5. The sample space is S={H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, T1, T2, T3, T4, T5}. Find P(Bean wins)

0.5 is the winning proportion of getting head from the sample space and 0.2 is the proportion to roll a 5 (since no sample space or given for rolling) total Probability of getting head or rolling a 5 is 0.7

Explanation:

S={H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, T1, T2, T3, T4, T5}

Probability of getting head from the sample space

5 ÷ 10 = 1/2 or 0.5

= 5 ÷ 10 = 1/2 or 0.5 = 50% ( head appears 5 times in a sample space)

Probability of rolling 5 from a 5 sided number cube

= 1 ÷ 5 = 0.2 or 20%

Probability of getting head or rolling a 5

since it's a Mutually Exclusive events

P(Head or rolling 5) = P(head ) + P(rolling 5)

= 5/10 + 1/5 = (5/10 × 1/5) = 5/10 +2/10 = 7÷10 = 0.7 or 70%

= (5 ÷10) + (1÷5) = (5÷10) +(2÷10) = 7÷10 =0.7 or 70%
