Explanation:

Given the 2 equations

s - t = 3 → (1)


(s)/(3) +
(t)/(2) = 6 → (2)

Rearrange (1) expressing s in terms of t by adding t to both sides

s = 3 + t → (3)

Substitute s = 3 + t into (2)


(3+t)/(3) +
(t)/(2) = 6

Multiply through by 6 to clear the fractions

2(3 + t) + 3t = 36 ← distribute and simplify left side

6 + 2t + 3t = 36

6 + 5t = 36 ( subtract 6 from both sides )

5t = 30 ( divide both sides by 5 )

t = 6

Substitute t = 6 into (3) for corresponding value of s

s = 3 + 6 = 9

Thus s = 9 and t = 6
