Answer: 208/729

Explanation:

Staffs,

7 male professors

6 female professors

9 male teaching assistants

5 female teaching assistants

The total number of staffs is 7 + 6 + 9 + 5 =27 staffs.

The probability of the person selected being a professor Pp = number of professors divided by the total staff

= 13/27.

Probability of the person selected being a male Pm = number of male staffs divided by total staffs

= 16/27

the probability that the selected person is a professor or a male =

Pp x Pm = 13/27 x 16/27 = 208/729
