You cannot factor this. Because if you had (x-2)(x-3) you would have a positive 6

Answer:

The answer to your question is ( x - 6)(x + 1)

Explanation:

Factor x² - 5x - 6

To find the roots of this equation,

1.- First find the prime factors of the last term (6)

6 2

3 3

1

6 = 2 x 3 x 1

2.- Find two numbers that added gives -5 using the prime factors

These numbers are -6 + 1

3.- Factor the equation

-Open two sets of parentheses and write the square root of the first term on both parentheses.

-Next, write the numbers you found.

( x - 6)(x + 1)
