The reason I'm saying this is because say, for instance, somebody wants to pursue a degree in chemistry. Well, there are a lot of divisions in chemistry. There's biochemistry, there's being a professor (assuming you get a graduate degree), molecular chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, researching, etc. What does the person want? Would getting opportunities to explore the various divisions of your major be helpful? I think so. I think it would actually be helpful for the workforce because then companies would have a higher pecentage of finding people who will be great employees. Why? Because the people they hire would love what they're doing since they would know what they want and what is required for their professions. Textbooks, although are necessary to help prepare us, are very different from real life hands-on experiences. Maybe if the textbooks included more real life scenarios instead of giving us random data (versus actual real life data) or making up fake stories that we can't connect to, it would be beneficial to make these improvisions. Companinies could play a role in shaping the curriculum by givinig facts to our textbook writers and offering more internships.
