Answer:

See explanation below

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to do this, we need to know and understand the concepts of an acidic, basic, neutral and amphoteric oxide.

First to all, an oxyde is a compounds which is the result of the reaction between a metal or non metal and oxygen. The general formula will be like this:

M⁺² + O₂ -------> M₂O

Now, when a oxyde is formed we can actually know if this oxyde has an acidic, or basic characteristics.

An acidic oxyde is an oxyde that can form an acid compound when it reacts with water. Usually these oxides comes from oxides formed with non metals.

A basic oxyde is an oxyde that can form an hydroxide compound when it reacts with water. Usually, these comes from oxides formed with metals.

A amphoteric oxyde can either form an acid or hydroxide when it reacts with water.

A neutral oxyde form another kind of compound but it does not form an acid or base.

Following this concepts, let's see which compound of the list a) is an acid. To know this, let's do the reaction with water and see the final compound:

a) Acidic oxides:

- CO₂ + H₂O ------> H₂CO₃ Acidic

- N₂O₅ + H₂O -------> 2HNO₃ Acidic

- NO + H₂O --------> NH₃ + O₂

- Al₂O₃ + H₂O ---------> 2Al(OH)₃

- SO₃ + H₂O --------> H₂SO₄ Acidic.

b) basic oxides

- CaO + H₂O -------> Ca(OH)₂ basic

- CO + H₂O ---------> CO₂ + H₂

- SO₃ + H₂O --------> H₂SO₄

- K₂O + H₂O --------> 2KOH basic

- BaO + H₂O --------> Ba(OH)₂ basic
