Answer: Number of flights are expected to arrive late = 7

Explanation:

Given that , out of the last 6 flights to arrive at Wildgrove Airport, 3 were late.

i.e. Proportion of late flights =
\frac{\text{Number of late flights}}{\text{Total flights}}

=(3)/(6)=0.5

We assume that the proportion remains same.

Then, if 14 flights to arrive at Wildgrove Airport, the number of flights expected to arrive late = (14) x (Proportion of late flights )

= 14 x 0.5

= 7

Hence, the number of flights are expected to arrive late = 7
