To find the inverse, replace x with y and y with x in the original equation [m(x) is synonymous with y] . In this case, that would give you:
x= 1/(y+2)
Next you have to solve this equation so that y is by itself.
x= 1/(y+2) multiply both sides of the equation by (y+2)
x(y+2)=1 distribute the x
xy+2x=1 Divide both sides by x
y+2=1/x Subtract 2 from both sides
y=(1/x)-2
