Answer: 6 or-7

Explanation:

X2+x-30=12

Collect like terms

X2+x-30-12=0

X2+x-42=0

Factorise

Factors of -42 that will give +x is +7&-6

Substitute

X2+7x-6x-42=0

X(x+7)-6(x+7)=0

(X-6)(x+7)=0

X-6=0

X=6 or

X+7=0

X= -7

Therefore x=6 or -7
