Jordan wants to put wire fence around each of his tomato plants. He has a partial roll of fencing which is 18 1/6 feet long. How many tomato plants will Jordan be able to put a fence around using this roll if each plant requires exactly 2 2/3 feet of fencing.

6 tomato plants

18(1)/(6)= (18*6+1)/(6)=(108+1)/(6)= (109)/(6)


2(2)/(3)= (2*3+2)/(3)=(6+2)/(3)= (8)/(3)

then the number of tomato plants that Jordan will be able to put a fence around using this roll :


((109)/(6))/((8)/(3))= (109)/(6)}*(3)/(8) = (109)/(2)}*(1)/(8)= (109)/(16) = 6.8125

then he can put fence only around 6 plants.
