Which equations represent the line that is perpendicular to the line 5x – 2y = -6 and passes through the point

(5,-4)? Select three options.
y=-x-2
2x + 5y = -10

Answer:

Explanation:

hello :

given the line : 5x – 2y = -6

the answer is : 2x + 5y = -10 because :

1) this line passes through then point (5 ,-4) : 2(5)+5(-4)=-10....right

2) the slope of the given line is: 5/2 because 5x-2y=-6 equivalent to ;

2y =5x+6 so : y = (5/2)x+3

On the other hand : 2x + 5y = -10 equivalent to : 5y =-2x-10

y = (-2/5)-2 when the slope is : -2/5

the condition for the perpendicularity is : product two slope is : - 1

(5/2)(-2/5) =-1
