Since a rectangle has 2 sets of congruent sides we can set up the equation:

48=2x+2y

We have our x value/length (14) so we can plug that in to the equation.

48=2(14)+2y

Then we have to simplify

48=28+2y

20=2y

Then simply solve for the y value, which is your width

10=y
