Answer: x is -1 & 7

Explanation:

X2-6x-7=0

Quadratic equation

Variables of -7 that will give-6 are

-7 & +1

X2-7x+x-7=0

X(x-7) +1(x-7)=0

(X+1)(x-7)=0

X+1=0

X= -1 or

X-7=0

X= 7

Therefore,

X is either -1 & 7

Answer:

x=7 x=-1

Explanation:

x^2 - 6x - 7 = 0

Factor

What two numbers multiply to -7 and add to -6

-7*1 =-7

-7+1 = -6

(x-7) (x+1) = 0

Using the zero product property

x-7 =0 x+1 =0

x=7 x=-1
