Steps to solve:

-3(x + 4) = 15

~Distributive Property

(-3 * x) + (-3 * 4) = 15

~Simplify

-3x - 12 = 15

~Add 12 to both sides

-3x - 12 + 12 = 15 + 12

~Simplify

-3x = 27

~Divide -3 to both sides

-3x/-3 = 27/-3

~Simplify

x = -9
