PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS WORD PROBLEM ASAP

A total of 12 people go to the movie. Some were charged the child fee of $8 a ticket and others were charged the adult fee of $11 a ticket. The theater charged you a total of $108. How many people were charged the child’s price? How many were charged the adult price?

Answer:

8 child tickets and 4 adult tickets.

Explanation:

8c + 11a = 108

8x + 11y = 108


y=(-4(2x-27))/(11)

Lets graph it.

When we graph, we find that there it crosses at 2 whole numbers: (8, 4).

So there were 8 child tickets and 4 adult tickets.

We can check our work by doing 8(8) + 4(11) = 108

We find that this is true, so our answer is correct.
