Answer: C) (12, -14)

Explanation:

I am going to solve by elimination.

Start by subtracting one equation from the other

y=-x-2\\-(y=-(1)/(2) x-8)\\0=-(1)/(2) x+6

Now solve for x

0=-(1)/(2) x+6\\0-6=-(1)/(2) x+6-6\\-6=-(1)/(2) x\\(-6)(-2)=(-2)(-(1)/(2) x)\\12=x

Now sub in x into one of the equations to find the value of y

y=-(12)-2\\y=-14
