A camera costs $400 normally, but there is a sale of 25% off. There is also 8% sales tax. What is the total cost of the camera.

Answer:

Explanation:

Two ways to look at it:

Change 25 % to a decimal

$400 x .25= $100 is the discount

$400- $100= $300

Sales Tax: change 8% to a decimal

300 x .08= $24

Total cost is $324

or you can say you are paying 75% for the camera since it is discounted 25%

So change 75% to .75

$400 x .75=$300

Sales Tax: change 8% to a decimal

300 x .08= $24

Total cost is $324
