divide the numerator and denominator by the same number. if they are not divisible by the same number it can not be reduced.

Explanation:

example:

2/4 = 1/2

in this case you divide the top by two and the bottom by two.

6/9 = 2/3

in this case you divide the top and bottom by 3.

Answer:

What you would do is find the greatest common factor of the numerator and denominator and divide both numbers by the GCF.

Explanation:

EXAMPLE: 30/45. what we can do is run through all of the factors of these 2 numbers.

30: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 15, 30

45: 1, 3, 5, 9, 15, 45

As we can see, the greatest common factor of these 2 numbers is 15. So we would take 30/45 and divide both the top and bottom by 15. And we would then get 2/3. Hope this helps!
