Why were farmers hit so badly during the depression

Answer:They were hit the hardest because they had food but they couldn't trade it for anything else. There was also the dust bowl which was caused by farmers putting plants in the same place too often. Thus they couldn't grow anything and they lost their places to stay because it was full of dust.
