For the first one, we'll just square the bottom of the parallelogram, because

it's a square. The answer is above.

The second is a bit more complicated. The formula for the area of a parallelogram is (base) x (height)= A(area), but that will be of no use until we know the height (the dashed line on the left).

So, do let's go about finding the height with a 45-45-90 triangle.

The way these work is that the two short sides are equal to x, and the longer one is
x√(2). So, in essence,
x√(2)=15.

15/
√(2)=10.61

Both of the other two sides (one being the height) are 10.61 ft long.

Multiply that by 30:

30 x 10.61= and you get 318.198 ft^2.
