Sides of Right Angle Triangle

The value of x is 5*
√(3). and y is 10

Explanation:

As the base is given 5 cm

According to trigonometry

Tangent of an angle == height / base

Tan(∅) = h / b

Here b=5

And ∅= 60 degree

Therefore , Tan(60) = h / 5

⇒ h = 5* tan(60)

⇒ h= 5*
√(3)

In the diagram h is denoted by x

Thus the value of x is 5*
√(3).

According to trigonometry

cosine of an angle == base / hypotenuse

cos(∅) = b/h

Here b=5

And ∅= 60 degree

Therefore ,

Cos(60) = 5 / h

h = 5 / cos(60)

h = 5 / (1/2)

Here h is denoted by y

y = 5 * 2 = 10

Thus the value of y is 10

Hence the value of x is 5*
√(3). and y is 10
