Explanation:

first break into simple shapes in this case a square and a right angle triangle. the area of the square is LxH in this case 2x2=4. the area of the right angle triangle is 1/2xBH essentially make it a square/rectangle and half it, the H is equal to 2 because you have taken 2 off from making the square and B is 2 because it's parralel to the side of the square. so the triangle has an area of 2, then simply add the two areas together, square+triangle 4+2=6
