Please help me with this!

What is the distance between ( − 2 , − 4 ) and ( 5 , 7 ) ? Use the distance formula, d = √ ( x 2 − x 1 ) 2 + ( y 2 − y 1 ) 2 .

Suppose ( x₁ , y₁ ) = ( − 2 , − 4 ) and (x₂ , y₂ ) = (5 , 7)

In the formula : d = √ [( x₂− x₁ )² + ( y₂ − y₁ )²]

Just replace x₁ by -2

replace y₁ by -4

replace x₂ by 5

replace y₂ by 7

We get ,

d = √ [( 5− (-2) )² + ( 7 − (-4) )²]

Then

d = √ [(7 )² + ( 11 )²]

d = √ [49 + 121]

d = √ [170]

≈ 13.03
