Explanation:

Xander has 10 pieces of Twine.

Each Piece is j yard long

1 piece = j yards

2 pieces = (j+j) yards = (2 X j) yards of twine

3 pieces = (j+j+j) yards = (3 X j) yards of twine

Therefore:

10 pieces = (10 X j) yards of twine.

Altogether Xander has 10j yards of twine
