x= -4, y=-3

Explanation:

solving the two equations simultaneously you'll get x to be-4 and y to be -3

x+ 5y= -19

3x-y=-9

multiplying the second equation by5

15x-5y=-45

adding eqn 1 and eqn 3

16x= -64

x= -4

substituting into eqn 2

3(-4)-y= -9

-y= -9+12

-y= 3

y=-3
