use pythagorean theorem to find the other side of the tirange.


a^(2) +b^(2) =c^(2)

fill in what you know:
15^(2) + 8^(2) = c^(2)

then solve for c
225 + 64 = c^(2) then
289 = c^(2).

then take the square root of both sides because you just want c.


√(289) = \sqrt{c^(2) }. then you get that c = 17. now, the radius is half of the diameter. the diameter is the segment ab, which we found to = 17, so if the radius if half the diameter, we divide 17 by 2 and we get 8.5. so, the radius of the circle is 8.5.
