Explanation:

If we divide in 6 equal lengths from 0 to 1 we will have 6 equal lines with unit fraction equal to 1/6, because if we add this value 6 times we will get 1.

The tick just to the left of 1, meas add 1/6 five times, it means take the 5th length to the 6 length:

1/6 + 1/6 + 1/6 + 1/6 + 1/6 = 5/6

Therefore Maliya should label 5/6 the tick mark just to the left of 1.
