6 shirts must be sold ! The cost will be 20(6) = $120 .

Explanation:

Here we have , The student council Greenpoint High School is making T-shirts to sell for a fundraiser, at a price of $20 a piece The costs, meanwhile, are $5 per shirt, play a setup fee of $90. Selling a certain number of shirts will allow the students council to cover their costs. We need to find How many shirts must be sold? What will be the cost be? Let's find out:

Setup fee is $90 , Let they sold x T-shirts so Total expenses is given by the equation :

90+5x

Now they sell T-shirt at $20 per piece ! So , Amount of selling price is :

20x

But , they need to make cost equal i.e.

20x=90+5x

15x=90

x=6

Therefore , 6 shirts must be sold ! The cost will be 20(6) = $120 .
